Chelsea are interested in a deal with Barcelona for midfielder Frenkie de Jong and are willing to offer Marcos Alonso in a win-win situation for both clubs. The Blues have entered the race for the Dutch midfielder, who has been linked with Manchester United for nearly three months and hope to complete a deal for the player.
Barcelona have also been eager to offload players in an effort to escape their precarious financial situation and comply with La Liga’s registration regulations. However, they are still interested in left-back Marcos Alonso and have been in transfer talks for some time; the Blues’ offer might be helpful to them.
Barcelona added five players during the summer transfer window, but they are having trouble registering them in accordance with La Liga regulations because they are still in excess of the necessary spending cap. Due to this, selling De Jong is all but necessary.
However, despite spending the majority of the summer in negotiations with Manchester United and even agreeing on a price, the deal hasn’t been finalized.
