Following Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham earlier this month, Thomas Tuchel made some remarks criticising referee Anthony Taylor for which he has been fined £20,000.

After Harry Kane‘s late equaliser had given Spurs a point, Tuchel made a suggestion that Taylor should no longer be permitted to oversee Chelsea matches. The derby was a heated contest, and both managers were sent out at the end when Tuchel and Antonio Conte tangled on the sidelines and got a one-game touchline suspension and a £35,000 fine.

During the game, the referee rendered a number of contentious decisions, one of which was not to punish Cristian Romero for yanking Marc Cucurella’s hair prior to Tottenham’s late equaliser. Following the game, a petition was started with 160,000 signatures to stop Taylor from overseeing Chelsea games.

An independent Regulatory Commission has ordered Chelsea FC’s Thomas Tuchel to be fined £20,000 and warned about his future conduct for breaching FA Rule E3.1 during a post-match press conference on Sunday 14 August 2022,” a statement read. “The manager admitted that his comments after their Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur FC constitute improper conduct as they imply bias, question the integrity of the match referee, and bring the game into disrepute.” Chelsea will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing defeat to Southampton when they host West Ham in an all-London derby at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The clash between Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte

Coaches of Chelsea and Tottenham were each fined for their unsportsmanlike conduct after the game. Antonio Conte of Tottenham and Thomas Tuchel of Chelsea have each been fined $15,000 and $35,000 respectively. Furthermore, Tuchel was suspended for his subsequent game.

As usual, both Chelsea and Spurs’ coaches and supporters got very heated during the game. The two coaches got into a fight during the final handshake as a result of Harry Kane, the star player for Tottenham, scoring an equaliser in the 90+7th minute. They could see the officials separate them. Conte was observed not looking at Tuchel, whom he hated and who he would not let go of. As a result, they became furious and were spotted yelling at one another.
