According to The Telegraph UK, Victor Osimhen is set to become Chelsea’s top target in the January 2024 transfer window. The Nigerian striker, currently with Napoli in Serie A, reportedly agreed to leave the Italian club.

Osimhen gained fame by leading Napoli to their third Serie A title last season, scoring 31 goals. After joining Napoli in 2020 from Lille for 75 million Euros, he maintained his form in the 2023-24 season. However, rumors suggest a strained relationship with the club and fans, indicating his openness to a move to the Premier League.

Victor Osimhen has been on the radar of several clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Manchester United. Chelsea, although seems to be leading the race to sign the £100 million rated forward, as they look to bolster their forward line after inconsistent performances this season. Chelsea who find themselves drooping at the 10th position on the league table, have splashed a huge sum of money on players after Todd Boehly arrived.

Newcastle took control from the start when Alexander Isak scored in the 13th minute. Despite a brilliant free-kick goal by Raheem Sterling in the 23rd minute, Newcastle scored three more goals, beating Chelsea. Adding to their woes, Reece James was sent off. Chelsea, who scored 8 goals in their last two matches, looked far from their best.

The loss highlights underperforming players like Mykhaylo Mudryk and Moises Caicedo. Pochettino and his team will aim to bounce back in tough upcoming matches against Brighton and Manchester United.
