Chelsea new owner Todd Boehly meets agent Jorge Mendes to discuss potential Cristiano Ronaldo transfer to the blues: Reports
Chelsea’s new ownership group has been actively engaged in talks with various agents and intermediaries since completing their takeover of the club and recent reports have confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo’s name was mentioned in a meeting with Jorge Mendes.
In May, a consortium led by LA Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly completed the purchase of Chelsea and immediately began contacting several of the key contacts ahead of the summer transfer window.
Among them was super-agent Mendes, whose clients include Ronaldo, Joao Felix, and David de Gea. Ronaldo’s name, among many others, was mentioned during the introductory conversation.
However, sources have reported that it was simply to keep the Manchester United star and other clients updated on their respective situations, with no-bid forthcoming. Indeed up to 30 players were discussed in the face-to-face meeting.
37-year-old Ronaldo’s contract at Manchester United expires in 12 months and he has been linked with a move away this summer, but it has been informed that he is a key figure in new manager Erik ten Hag’s plans for the coming season.

Will Chelsea’s signing of Cristiano Ronaldo be an upgrade over $115 million flop Romelu Lukaku?
Chelsea are looking to bolster their attacking ranks as Romelu Lukaku has returned back to Inter on loan. However, Raheem Sterling and Ousmane Dembele of Manchester City are their current priority targets, and the Blues are also keeping an eye on Ajax wide man Antony, who is a key attacking target for Manchester United.
Despite turning 37 last season, Ronaldo still managed 24 goals in all competitions, which would’ve ranked first in Chelsea’s squad by quite some distance. With a lack of a true world-class number nine, Chelsea have gone five years since winning the Premier League title, incidentally when Diego Costa was still at the club.
Ronaldo, with his incredible goal-scoring instincts, could help to change that. However, his link-up play is lacking, and most importantly, he lacks the defensive worth ethic that Tuchel expects.
