Chelsea owner in talks with Sporting manager Ruben Amorim to fill the vacant manager role after Thomas Tuchel sack: Reports

On Wednesday morning, the Blues sacked Thomas Tuchel, and they soon poached Brighton manager Graham Potter after the Seagulls gave the former Swansea manager permission to talk with Chelsea. Despite his interest in the team, Potter is naturally hesitant to make the switch after witnessing how Tuchel was treated.

In the summer transfer window, the Blues spent close to £300 million, but Tuchel was fired less than a week after it closed, despite being given unheard-of levels of power over the team’s operations.

Potter has patiently waited for his chance at a top position, and despite the fact that negotiations have advanced quickly in the past day, he has not yet decided whether to accept the position. Chelsea have thus created backup plans, and according to SkySports, Boehly and Sporting manager Amorim have discussed a move to Stamford Bridge.

The exciting style that the Portuguese coach introduced to the green side of Lisbon has garnered notice throughout Europe. The 37-year-old has a remarkable 71% victory rate in his two years in the city, having led the team to the league title in 2021.

When did Chelsea sack manager Thomas Tuchel?

Thomas Tuchel was fired on Wednesday morning. According to a statement from the team, the decision was made following his 100th game for the Blues. It wrote: “Chelsea Football Club has today parted company with Head Coach Thomas Tuchel. On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the Club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club.”

Potter emerged as the front-runner in the search for a new head coach, and Brighton allowed Chelsea to speak with their boss. Chelsea will pay a release clause, estimated to be worth around £16 million, as soon as their new head coach is chosen.
