Manchester United could feel a sense of partiality from Chelsea’s end regarding the transfer of their star midfielder Mason Mount. According to a report, Manchester United executives believe that Chelsea is overvaluing Mount in order to sabotage the Red Devils. Manchester City also gave a similar contract to Mateo Kovacic which was accepted but the London-based club has thwarted United’s bids thrice.
According to reports, Man United think that Chelsea are being partial to Man City as they feel that the club allowed Kovacic’s transfer of €30 million on the same kind of contract as the one they were offering Mount. But Chelsea won’t be selling Mount to Man United without the alleged ‘Man United Tax’.
Manchester United wants to sign Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount. The midfielder is also reportedly open to a move outside Stamford Bridge and thus has not agreed to extend his contract at the club beyond this season.
Man United have already bid thrice for the player although Chelsea have rejected all their bids which went as high as £55 million. Chelsea believe that the 24-year-old is worth £65 million. However, this hard negotiation tactic can be a double-edged sword for the Blues. With the rapid influx of players last season, the club has a heavily bloated squad of 44 players. Although they are close to offloading a lot of them to Saudi Arabia, it still wouldn’t raise enough money to balance the sheets. In order to avoid Financial Fair Play regulation, Chelsea need to offload more players. Mount is also in the last year of his contract, so if Todd Boehly‘s management fail to sell him to anyone else, they will risk losing him for free.
Mount, who has been a key cog in Chelsea’s Champions League-winning team under Thomas Tuchel, has fallen rapidly out of favor since the German’s departure. He has seen his minutes diminish from 3,784 under Tuchel to just 2,188 minutes last season. It might not be in Chelsea’s best interests to keep an unhappy player in the last year of his contract as a bargaining chip.
Quite a few reports also state that Mount had already reached personal terms agreement with Man United. He was reportedly looking forward to working with Erik Ten Hag. But still, nothing is concrete and it is to be seen what happens in the future.

Manchester United ready to make the first official offer to Inter Milan to sign Andre Onana this summer
Manchester United are reportedly ready to make an official bid for Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana. Erik Ten Hag wants the goalkeeper to replace David De Gea whom the club has already decided to release.
Man United boss Ten Hag had previously worked with Onanana at Ajax. Onana joined Inter Milan for free in a Bosman deal. While there were rumors of a falling out between the coach and the player, Onana’s skill with the ball at his feet might make Ten Hag look beyond the few shortcomings.
The English club met the player’s agent on Friday. According to reports, the first offer will be €55 million. Inter signed him for free last year.
