Chelsea will not go for Robert Lewandowski this summer, says Thomas Tuchel despite calling him “one of the best number 9s” in the world

Robert Lewandowski’s transfer to Barcelona from Bayern Munich is looking increasingly unlikely amid the club’s financial struggles. As a result, Chelsea has come out as a potential destination after Robert Lewandowski confirmed that he wishes to leave the club.
There are only a few clubs that can adhere to Bayern Munich’s financial demands if they wish to sign the 33-year-old striker. And Chelsea is one of them. The club already loaned out Romelu Lukaku this summer and has been linked with a move for a new striker.
While Robert Lewandowski has his eyes set on a Barcelona transfer. The Polish international is well aware that there are chances the move falls through. Amid the rumours linking him to England, Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel gives his verdict on the player and the transfer probability.

Speaking about the striker, Thomas Tichel said, “I don’t think we have a chance for Lewandowski but if there is a chance…he is one of the best number 9s.“
“But first of all it does not make sense that I comment about players from other teams and I will not start doing it. But of course there are top number nines out there but we are happy with what we have at the moment.”
He added, “We have Timo Werner as a nine, we have Kai Havertz as a nine, we have Michy Batshuayi as a number nine, we have Armando Broja as a nine and Raheem Sterling as a nine, maybe, so let’s see how things work out.”
One of the biggest problems for Chelsea last season was a lack of goals. The €115 million signing, of Romelu Lukaku was supposed to solve that issue for the Blues but it didn’t work out.
While Tuchel’s side has signed Raheem Sterling from Manchester City for £45 million plus addons this summer. The club will expect the former Liverpool signing to provide them with the goals. However, the club would be on the lookout for new players as well.
