Manchester United have been struggling in the 2023/24 season. The club lies 7th in the Premier League table, is out of all European competitions and their manager is getting closer and closer to being removed from his position.

Being 7th, they are 9 points away from the top 4. They are facing an injury crisis, with the team forced to play their fringe and youth players. With their 5th loss in the month of December, many fans have given up on the upcoming season. Many have dropped their expectations, believing the club won’t do anything significant in this season.

Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has also dropped all hopes from Manchester United. While covering the New Year’s Eve matches for TNT Sports, the United Legend admitted that a season with no trophy and a top 4 finish would be okay.

This statement came after co-host Jermaine Jenas claimed United wouldn’t make it to the top 4 of the Premier League. The two had a heated discussion, where Ferdinand defended his former club and claimed his team would make it to the top 4. After a bit of back and forth, Jenas commented that United finishing in the top 4 would be a great year for United finishing 4th, but Ferdinand commented that it would be ok.

Here is what he had to say:

If Man United finish fourth, without winning a trophy, which is very, very likely, it's an okay season.

Rio Ferdinand hails Premier League Manager for “brilliant work”

Gary O’Neil was sacked by Bournemouth before the start of the season and replaced by Andoni Iraola. Wolverhampton Wanderers were quite quick in picking up the 40-year-old, replacing the outgoing Julen Lopetegui

Wolves finished 13th in the previous season and lost players like Ruben Never, Mathias Nunes and Raul Jimenez. There were expectations of them struggling, but instead, they have been performing well. They are 11th, tied on points with Chelsea and 1 point below Newcastle United.

When asked who was the Manager that surprised him, Ferdinand said O’Neil was his pick. He said he saw the team playing really good football and admitted that he thought they would be relegated at the start of the season.

They sacked their manager and I had Wolves to go down based on last season's form. The way he has come in and galvanized the club with Shaun Derry and everything behind the scenes, it's been great with what they have done and they're playing some really good football. A few decisions have gone against them and they could have more points on the board and they are doing really well.

Jermaine Jenas agreed with Ferdinand, adding that the job was tough but O’Neil managed it well. Ferdinand said the Manager of the Year for him was Jurgen Klopp. He stated what great jobs Unai Emery, Ange Postecoglou and Roberto de Zerbi did, but Klopp was his pick.
