Brazilian legend Ronaldo Nazario heaped praise upon world cup-winning star Lionel Messi stating how happy he was to finally see the Argentine lift the coveted trophy while congratulating him. He also praised his ability to still play at such a high level at this stage of his career while also innovating his style of play.
While attending FIFA’s The Best awards where Messi won the Men’s Player Of The Year, the Brazilian world cup winner congratulated the Argentine, “Leo, you look so cute. Congratulations on the World Cup. I saw you enjoying yourself, it’s incredible. I was very happy”
Previously winning the World Cup himself in 1994 and 2002 with Brazil, Ronaldo expressed his admiration towards Messi who finally won the only title missing from his trophy cabinet. Apart from this, he also expressed his hope to have a meeting over coffee with the PSG star as he wanted to take advantage of his stay in Paris for a week.
Argentina beat France in the final of the World Cup in December 2022 on penalties. Messi scored two goals in normal time before netting a crucial penalty in the shootout as Argentina went on to win the title. Messi also won player of the tournament for his seven goals and three assists.

Lionel Messi won his second FIFA’s The Best award at FIFA’s annual The Best awards which was held in Paris on Tuesday. The Argentine saw off competition in his PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema to clinch his record 77th individual award.
Messi had an incredible 2022 where he won multiple major trophies which include the Ligue 1 title and the World Cup. Apart from this, he also won huge individual awards such as the player of the tournament at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
