“Cristiano & Gabriel Jesus would take us to the title” – Piers Morgan urges Arsenal to sign Cristiano Ronaldo to boost their Premier Legue title charge
According to Piers Morgan, Arsenal’s addition of Cristiano Ronaldo is “exactly” what they need to defeat Manchester City and win the Premier League. The Manchester United star provided the TV host an explosive candid interview, with the first clips airing on Sunday night. Ronaldo accused the club of “betraying” him and criticised manager Erik ten Hag, adding that he doesn’t “respect” the Dutchman.
As the World Cup draws near, the table-topping Gunners are five points clear of City. Morgan, a close associate of the Portuguese, advised them to take advantage of the situation and sign the 37-year-old forward in January to help their title chances.
Following a comment made by an Irish TV host on Twitter, “Presumably Piers Morgan is hoping Arsenal sign Ronaldo and play him up top in every game,” Morgan responded: “Yes, actually. He’s exactly what we need.. @Cristiano & @gabrieljesus9 would take us to the title.” The tweet, which was published at 11 p.m. on Sunday, has already garnered 15,000 likes.
Morgan has also spoken openly about the two’s good friendship, which allowed him to land the very contentious TalkTV interview. He told The Sun: “I first interviewed Cristiano three years ago in Turin and we ended up having a four-hour dinner. Since then, we’ve become very unlikely but very good friends. We text and speak a lot, and he has always been incredibly honest with me.”
Cristiano Ronaldo felt ‘betrayed’ by Manchester United & Erik ten Hag
According to reports, Ronaldo’s antics have disappointed Manchester United, from the management to the players, and Ten Hag is outraged by his remarks. When he departed the club in 2009 after his first tenure, he criticised the team for not having advanced since that time and felt improvements were required.
“I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me,” Ronaldo said about Ten Hag. “If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never going to have respect for you.” He also said he felt betrayed by the club: “Yes, not only the coach, but another two or three guys around the club. I felt betrayed.”
When asked whether the club was trying to get rid of him, he said: “People should listen to the truth. Yes, I felt betrayed and I felt like some people don’t want me here, not only this year but last year too.”
