39 years old and showing no signs of slowing down, Cristiano Ronaldo showed the world just why he deserves all the superlatives showered by his fans as the No.7 netted his 879th career goal. The Portuguese marksman was yet again at the heart of the game as Al-Nassr picked up an important win in the Saudi Pro League over Al-Ahli. Ronaldo confidently netted from 12 yards to score the only goal in a close encounter on Friday.
With 879 goals till date, Ronaldo leads the list of top goal-scorers in football. With a career spanning over 22 years, there are not many footballers who can claim to have had a better career than Ronaldo. Following his move to Saudi Arabia in 2023, the Portuguese has broken a slew of records, with goals being the center of it.
Being one of the most reliable players from the spot, Ronaldo made no mistake to catapult his side into the lead against Al-Ahli. Ronaldo confidently placed his shot to the keeper’s right, who dived helplessly in the opposite direction. The crowd erupted in cheers as the superstar performed his trademark celebration.
With Georgina Rodriguez dropping hints of the No.7’s potential retirement, fans are hoping the ‘greatest of all time’ continues to grace the stage for many years to come.
Cristiano Ronaldo was visibly frustrated as crowd chants ‘Messi Messi’
The Cristiano Ronaldo X Lionel Messi rivalry lit up the European football stage for the greater part of the last two decades. While Lionel Messi parted ways with Paris Saint-Germain to join MLS club Inter Miami, Ronaldo made the move to Al-Nassr in the SPL. In spite of their rivalries ‘ending’ with their exit from Europe, Ronaldo recently found himself reminded of his favorite rival.
Ronaldo scored the only goal against Al-Ahli in a 1-0 win on Saturday. Despite his successful penalty, the No.7 had an angry moment against the match referee. Fans quickly took notice of the same and wasted no time in making an attempt to rile up the player. Ronaldo had recently served a one-match-ban for an obscene gesture aimed at the crowd in response to ‘Messi’ chants.
On Friday, Ronaldo lost his temper yet again as he launched the ball into the crowd when the home fans chanted the name of his rival. The Argentine too was subject to chants from rival fans, but the No.10 came out on top, with the chants instantly silenced by a goal from the World Cup winner. Al-Nassr are currently second in the SPL, trailing by nine points to rivals Al-Hilal, who also have a game in hand.
