Age catches up with everyone, be it Eden Hazard, Neymar Jr. or even the mighty Cristiano Ronaldo. The Al-Nassr No.7, once revered for his electric skills and entertaining displays, is anything but his former self at the moment. His most recent game against Al-Ain in the AFC Champions League ended in defeat as rival fans picked a hilarious video of the player to make fun of.

The 39-year-old, in a viral video, is seen attempting one of his trademark skills – the roll to the side and chop. However, things did not go according to plan for the veteran, as the ball appeared to get stuck underneath his feet. His failed attempt was laughed at on social media, with an awkward tumble to the ground to make things worse. His outing against the UAE Pro League club ended in defeat as fans spammed replays of the failed skill.

The two Al-Ain defenders who quickly closed him down made the superstar look silly as they knocked him over. That was not the end for Ronaldo’s misfortunes that night, as he went on to miss a crucial chance to equalize.

The home fans were also on a mission to rile him up, as they chanted ‘Messi, Messi, Messi’ at the No.7.

An ageing Cristiano Ronaldo is still better than a lot of professional football players in their prime. However, his failed skill was not quickly forgotten by the audience, as clips of the ‘hilarious’ incident were spammed all over football X (formerly Twitter). A fan said that Eden Hazard was right in claiming that he was better than Ronaldo when it came to pure footballing ability.

Another seconded his opinion, and said that Ronaldo ended up diving after dribbling himself! Some fans were quick to tell that Ronaldo shouldn’t even be attempting to dribble in 2024. A man said that it was time for Ronaldo to teach the rest of Europe his ‘dancing’ lessons. Another claim was that the Messi chants were really getting into the No.7’s head.

A fan brutally claimed that the defenders shouldn’t have fouled him and let him embarrass himself more. The game was a reflection of his skill too, as Al-Nassr had no reply to Al-Ain’s goal in the closing minutes of the first half. That being said, Al-Nassr take on Al-Raed in the Saudi Pro League before hosting Al-Ain for the return leg.
