According to a report in The Sun, Manchester United star, Cristiano Ronaldo was “brutally axed” by manager Erik ten Hag before their Monday’s Premier League matchup with Liverpool because the former Ajax coach was “weary of the circus” he creates.
After a contentious summer during which he missed much of the preseason, ostensibly for personal reasons, Ronaldo was forced to sit out the game. This occurred amid a backdrop of ongoing transfer rumours that suggested the former Real Madrid and Juventus star would leave the club.
Although Ronaldo has subsequently resumed playing, he is still the subject of transfer rumours, and it is uncertain whether he will still be with the team by 1 September 2022, when the summer transfer window will have closed.
The relationship between Ronaldo and Ten Hag did appear to be strained as the Portuguese player abandoned a preseason match against Rayo Vallecano midway through the second half, prompting a public warning from the manager.

Allegedly meeting between Erik ten Hag and Cristiano Ronaldo lasted for two hours
Currently, Ronaldo has been the target of a private outburst from the Dutchman, as reported by The Sun. According to the aforementioned reports, a two-hour “clear the air” meeting was held on Thursday following Brentford’s 4-0 Premier League loss. During the discussion, Ronaldo remained silent, but Ten Hag ensured his player understood what was expected of him.
Ronaldo allegedly vowed on social media to disclose everything that happened this summer in an interview next week, leaving the former Ajax manager furious. Now that the striker’s “attitude and mood are harming spirit in the camp,” he wants to get rid of him.
As United went on to defeat Liverpool 2-1 on Monday, earning their first Premier League points of the year, Ten Hag’s actions were shown to be justified. It is less certain whether he succeeds in getting Ronaldo to depart Manchester United.
