Cristiano Ronaldo becomes the first sportsperson to reach 100 million followers on Twitter

Cristiano Ronaldo recently achieved yet another milestone as he reached 100 million followers on Twitter. The Portuguese star is well known all around the globe for his exploits on the pitch with numerous individual honors and team accolades won over almost two decades in the world of football. However, not to anybody’s surprise, he’s breaking records off the pitch too.

Cristiano has now reached 100 million followers on Twitter which is the most for any sportsperson in the world let alone football. He trails only to former US president Barack Obama, Popstars Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, and Rihanna and is now the fifth most followed person on Twitter.

As far as his record is concerned, Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 17 league goals for Manchester United this season, becoming their top-goal scorer in 2021-22. However, the Red Devils are already out of next year’s Champions League football, and under such circumstances, Ronaldo’s stay at the Old Trafford seems skeptical.

In February last year, Ronaldo became the only person to cross 500 million followers across Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. With over 439 million followers on Instagram alone, he is the most followed person not just an athlete on Instagram.

Along with sharing personal moments and career milestones and announcements, he also uses his following efficiently for promoting brand endorsements. His one Instagram post ranges from garnering anywhere around 7-15 million likes and tens of thousands of comments, and a single paid partnership post can amplify a brand’s reach to new peaks.
