Cristiano Ronaldo certainly makes it to the very top in terms of being one of the best in the sport. The 39-year-old currently piles his trade in the Saudi Pro League for Al-Nassr. After ending 2023 as the global top scorer, the #7 is ‘hungry for more’ and showing no signs of slowing down. Ronaldo named his ‘greatest XI’ comprising solely of players that he’s shared the pitch with.

Having played for the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Juventus, there is no doubt that Ronaldo would’ve had a tough time narrowing the number down to 11. In an interview given in 2023, the player chose the best XI from former teammates. There were a few predictable inclusions, while at the same time, Mesut Ozil and Ryan Giggs missed out!

The former built up an incredible partnership with Ronaldo during their time together in Madrid. Starting from the 2010/11 season, Ozil recorded 54 assists while Ronaldo scored an incredible 110 goals! He also won the La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup while at Madrid.

As for Ryan Giggs, the Welshman is one of the most decorated footballers of all time, winning 44 career trophies. He played with Ronaldo from 2003 to 2009 at United, after which the Portuguese left for Real Madrid. Giggs also holds the record for most appearances at Manchester United.

A quick look at Cristiano Ronaldo’s Greatest teammate XI

Ronaldo has played alongside several world-class footballers during his career. While naming his Greatest Teammate XI in an interview in 2013, the Portuguese graciously favored a huge chunk of Real Madrid players. 3 United stars but just one from Juventus. Starting in goal for Ronaldo is Iker Casillas, a World Cup and Champions League winner himself.

In defense, Ronaldo picked Sergio Ramos, Rio Ferdinand, Marcelo, and Giorgio Chiellini. Chiellini is the only player from Juventus that Ronaldo included in his XI. In midfield, Ronaldo named Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, and Paul Scholes. Modric and Kroos were part of the historical ‘three-peat’ team that lifted the Champions League thrice in a row, with Ronaldo at the forefront.

Up front, it was no surprise that CR7 picked Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale. Bale, Benzema, and Cristiano (BBC) formed one of the most threatening front threes in world football. In place of himself, the 39-year-old named Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney as LW. Despite Cristiano not being in the team, the above-mentioned XI might just be the best bunch of players if made to wear the same jersey.
