Cristiano Ronaldo gets rejected by PSG after agent Jorge Mendes pushed for a possible union with Lionel Messi: Reports

In an effort to leave Old Trafford, Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo is said to have “offered himself” to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Red Devils’ failure to make the Champions League and their hesitation in the transfer market was cited as the main reasons for the Portuguese legend’s wish to leave the team earlier this month.

Since the rumors about his prospective departure began to circulate, other teams, notably Chelsea and Bayern Munich, have been said to be interested in signing the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo’s agent, has been working diligently to get a transfer away, even going so far as to speak with Todd Boehly, the new owner of the Blues.

The striker has reportedly been given the chance to join Paris Saint-Germain, according to French media. Le Parisien claims that Mendes has spoken with PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelafi and sports consultant Luis Campos about a prospective agreement.

The 37-year-old is not now available at the Parc des Princes, therefore the defending Ligue 1 winners have decided not to pursue him. The French powerhouses already have a wide range of striker options at the club, and this summer, they paid over £70 million to get Vitinha and Nuno Mendes from Portugal.

Meanwhile, they also used a substantial portion of their summer budget to re-sign star attacker Kylian Mbappe after the Frenchman turned down a transfer to Real Madrid.

However, should they decide against signing Ronaldo, Ronaldo may then line up with Lionel Messi for the first time. While playing for Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively, the duo developed a fierce competition for goals, and both are regarded as some of the greatest players in sports history.

Before the conclusion of his career, Messi said he would like to play with the Portuguese striker. Back in 2015, when asked if he would ever wish to play alongside Ronaldo, he responded, “Of course. He [Ronaldo] is one of the best, and I always prefer to play alongside the best.

“Obviously, I would prefer to play for the same squad, but I believe it would be challenging. I had the wonderful fortune to compete and play with many excellent players, and I would definitely like to do the same with him.”

Only one season has passed since Ronaldo’s tearful return to Old Trafford from Juventus. He committed to a two-year contract with the team, and the Red Devils are still certain that he is not for sale and is still bound by his contract.

Last season, when the team finished sixth in the Premier League, he scored 24 goals for the organization.
