Cristiano Ronaldo surpasses tally of Thierry Henry and Ronaldo Nazario combined

Cristiano Ronaldo goes past combined goal tally of Thierry Henry and Ronaldo Nazario

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 833rd and 834th career goals in a 5-0 Al-Nassr win on Tuesday. This double extended his lead as the all-time record goalscorer in world football and also astonishingly surpassed the 832 strikes Henry and R9 mustered between them in their respective legendary careers.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry once referred to Ronaldo Nazario as the ‘real’ Ronaldo, rather than Cristiano Ronaldo. This was when the former French forward answered Jamie Carragher if he had ever asked to exchange shirts with any player during his career. “Yeah, I did. Ronaldo. R9. The Real Ronaldo.” This seemed to surprise the former Liverpool man before clarifying by the Arsenal forward.

The Arsenal icon scored at a blistering rate during his Premier League days but saw the goals dry up somewhat after moving out to the left wing for Barcelona. Brazilian Ronaldo was, for many, the greatest striker to ever grace the game. However, injuries severely hampered his time on the pitch. Cristiano Ronaldo, on the other hand, has had a longer and healthier career and is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time.

Ronaldo has played for top clubs such as Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus, and has consistently performed at a high level throughout his career. While his form has shown some signs of decline in recent years, he remains one of the most respected and accomplished players in the game.

Cristiano Ronaldo was on song as Al-Nassr managed to earn a 5-0 win against Al-Adalah in their latest Saudi Pro League clash, on Tuesday. The Portuguese bagged a brace with Brazilian Anderson Talisca also managing to do so. Ronaldo has now scored braces in his last three games. He scored braces in the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Luxembourg before the Al-Adalah clash.

British broadcaster Piers Morgan, a well-documented Cristiano Ronaldo fan, reacted to the performance. He took potshots as Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag also in the process. “Two more goals for Cristiano so far tonight, including this superb one which once again suggests Ten Hag’s decision to dump him for Wout Weghorst was one of the worst in football history.”

Ten Hag used Ronaldo as a bit-part player towards the end of the player’s time at Manchester United. Wout Weghorst was signed in January to fill the void in the attack after Ronaldo’s departure. In 19 matches this season for Manchester United, the Dutch player has managed just two goals and two assists. The tensions between Morgan and Manchester United are nothing new as he takes every opportunity to mock them most recently after Liverpool thrashed them 7-0.
