“Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best, and so is Lionel Messi”: Toni Kroos gives his verdict on the GOAT debate
Cristiano Messi
Toni Kroos recently became the first-ever German player to win 5 Champions League titles. He achieved the feat with Real Madrid who lifted their 14th Champions League title last month after defeating Liverpool 1-0.
However, Kroos has since decided not to comment on him being compared to the legends of the game. The player believes that while what he and his team have achieved is extraordinary, he feels ranking all of them together is not correct.
Kroos says Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo shouldn’t be compared to others like Seedorf
As reported by MARCA, Toni Kroos said, “There are so many players in each generation who have achieved great things, Clarence Seedorf comes to mind, who won the Champions League with three different clubs. There is no doubt that Cristiano is one of the best in history.”
“The same goes for Leo Messi. But I don’t see this one better. Because it is difficult to compare who does what on the field and how the game has changed over the decades.”
Kroos also spoke about how he feels that his trident partnership with Casemiro and Luka Modric has also played a huge role in the team’s and his individual success. Toni Kroos joined Real Madrid from Bayern Munich in 2014, on the back of lifting his first Champions League and treble with the German giants.
Since then, the 32-year-old has gone on to make 365 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 25 goals and assisting another 83. While the numbers aren’t the most spectacular, Toni Kroos is still one of the greatest midfielders that this generation has seen.
