Cristiano Ronaldo’s incredible goal-scoring form continues after an effort from outside the box – on his ‘weaker foot’ – for Al-Nassr in the AFC Champions League has the crowd in shock.

A left-footed curler to the top-left corner of the goal, Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal for Al-Nassr had the crowd off their seats as the ball went in. His 861st goal in his career, Ronaldo’s goal in the 61st minute of the game marked the third goal for Al-Nassr on the night putting the scoreline at 3 goals to nothing. Al-Duhail would then cause issues for Al-Nassr scoring two goals in succession almost leveling the score at 3-2. Cristiano would get the winner, however, after scoring his second goal of the night in the 81st minute of the game ending the game 4-3 in favour of the Riyadh-based side.

The brace against Al-Duhail puts Ronaldo’s goal tally for the calendar year at 43 in 45 appearances. Currently, 38, Cristiano Ronaldo has shown no signs of slowing down despite his age. He is currently the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League with 11 goals and is also joint highest in the assists charts with 5. Al-Nassr’s win against Al-Duhail on the night places the club on top of Group E and in pole position to not only qualify for the next round but also end the group stages as winners of the group.

Al-Nassr will now play their next fixture in the Saudi Pro League against mid-table side, Al-Feiha on the 28th of October.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s hopes of lifting the Saudi Pro League title

Cristiano’s first season in Saudi Arabia did not pan out the way he wished. The Portuguese went trophyless with Al-Nassr following a 1-1 draw against Al-Ettifaq resulting in the club ending in second place to rivals Al-Ittihad who enjoyed a 5-point lead with one game remaining in the season.

The season started poorly for Al-Nassr who began their new campaign with two back-to-back losses in the league to Al-Ettifaq and Al-Taawoun. Since then, however, the club has remained undefeated in their next eight fixtures with seven wins and a single draw. The signings of European stars the likes of Sadio ManeMarcelo BrozovićOtavio and Aymeric Laporte have improved the team massively in all departments and have aided the side to their current position of third, four points behind current league leaders, Al-Hilal

The quality of the team has also resulted in the team excelling in other competitions as they remain unbeaten in both the AFC Champions League as well as the King’s Cup. A trophyless first season for Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, the Portuguese star began his new campaign by lifting the Arab Club Champions Cup and will be in the search for more with the club.
