Cristiano Ronaldo’s latest LEGAL VICTORY sees US Court reject R*pe accuser’s demand for millions more than 2010’s £275,000 settlement

Cristiano Ronaldo is currently stuck in a legal battle between him and an American model-teacher, Kathyrn Mayorga, who accused the Portuguese star of sexually assaulting her. A US court rejected an appeal made after Kathyrn’s lawyer claimed more money than the £275,000 that was paid by the footballer as hush money after she accused him of rape in 2009.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who in 2009 played for Manchester United, was accused by the former teacher turned model, Kathyrn Mayorga of sexually assaulting her in his hotel’s bedroom, during his trip to the city of Las Vegas. The lawsuit was filed about 9 years after the incident took place, and is being heard by US Courts. Ronaldo’s lawyers have denied any wrongdoing on the player’s side, claiming that the act was completely consensual between the two.
In 2010, Ronaldo and Mayorga reached a possible juncture or an agreement, where the model was paid £275,000 in hush money. The lawsuit that was later filed by Mayorga’s lawyers in Nevada, demanded an additional compensation of $25 million from Ronaldo and his legal team, claiming defamation, fraud and conspiracy. The claim was rejected by the Nevada District Judge Jennifer Dorsey, on multiple grounds after a thorough analysis, and her decision was upheld by the appellate court of San Francisco.
Judge Dorsey had also levied an additional fine of $335,000 upon Mayorga and her lawyers, which the appellate court upheld, for breaching the confidential agreement that was agreed to in 2010 for the payment of hush money. This new development seems like a legal victory for Ronaldo and his lawyers, in the case that has haunted the player for more than 14 years.
Ronaldo’s unending legal saga seems to have taken a new turn after recent developments
The former Real Madrid forward and 5-time Ballon d’Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo was accused of rape and sexual assault by then-25-year-old Las Vegas-based model, Kathryn Mayorga; the claims being denied by the legal team, representing the Al Nassr star who says that the sex was consensual.
Ronaldo, who was on a trip to Las Vegas in 2009, spent a night in a hotel room with the model, after which she accused the player of sexually assaulting her in the hotel room. The two parties reached a confidentiality agreement in 2010, where Ronaldo paid millions in hush money to the woman. The case reopened in 2018, after Kathyrn’s lawyers filed a lawsuit in the USA courts against the player, demanding an excess of compensation for his alleged ‘misconduct’.
Although US courts informed the media, that Ronaldo would not be tried or prosecuted, as there was very limited and substantial evidence proving the player guilty, Mayorga’s lawyers kept pushing for a judicial respite, as they felt Mayorga was not in the right mental space when the non-disclosure agreement was signed upon.
The case has dragged on for the last 14 years and seems to be an unending legal saga for the player. Ronaldo’s criminal case did not come to a conclusion, he was never found either guilty or acquitted of any of the allegations, and it remains to be seen what comes ahead for the player.
