According to reports, Cristiano Ronaldo will attend the FIFA Ballon d’Or 2022 ceremony on Monday in Paris October 16. As per reports he is aware that Karim Benzema will likely take home the prize. Between 2009 and 2018, the pair enjoyed a dazzling relationship at Real Madrid.
During their tenure at the club, they collected numerous honours, including two La Liga titles, four UEFA Champions League crowns, and more. During that time, the Portuguese took home four Ballon d’Or titles. But this season, he was unable to make it to the top 30 of the Ballon d’Or shortlist.
Meanwhile, one of the favourites to take home the individual award is Benzema. In 46 games played for Los Blancos last season, he scored 44 goals and contributed 15 assists. He contributed to the team’s victories in the Supercopa de Espaa, UEFA Champions League, and La Liga. According to the aforementioned article, Karim Benzema is expected to win the trophy this year for the first time in his career.
Karim Benzema displayed class once more on Wednesday night in Real Madrid’s record-tying UEFA Super Cup victory over Eintracht Frankfurt at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki, Finland, hours before the release of the Ballon d’Or 2022 nominations.
The 34-year-old Karim Benzema scored the second goal in the holders of the UEFA Champions League’s routine triumph over the winners of the Europa league. The Frenchman had scored 324 goals for Real Madrid, surpassing the mark held by Raul, a club legend. Only Cristiano Ronaldo now has more goals for Los Blancos than Benzema, scoring 450 goals between 2009 and 2018.
