Football legend Cristiano Ronaldo will reportedly sue Juventus over unpaid wages during the COVID era. The 38-year-old will be seeking $20 million as promised by Juventus when the player agreed to defer payments during the early months of the pandemic. Cristiano spent three years in Turin, where he managed 81 goals in 98 Seria A appearances.

Picking up two Serie A titles and a Coppa Italia, the player was a force of nature for the Juve side. After a tough final season with the club, Ronaldo left the Turin side for the Red side of Manchester. Two years later, the Portuguese legend reunites with his former club, but in a legal situation.

In March 2020, Juventus announced that an agreement had been reached to reduce the wages of staff and players due to the global pandemic. While Cristiano Ronaldo took the pay cut, he signed a secret contract with the club that assured him $20 million even if he left Turin.

According to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, the Portuguese player is set to take legal action against his old side, requesting documents from Turin’s Public Prosecutor’s Office. Juventus have found themselves in a difficult position, as earlier, Leonardo Bonucci also stated his intentions to sue the club over ‘training’ conditions. Things are not looking good for the Turin side, which has also lost Paul Pogba to a failed drug test.

Juventus are currently sitting third in the league with two wins and one draw. The Turin-based side will be hoping their on-the-pitch performance is good enough to distract attention from their off-the-field issues.

Juventus aim to reach Champions League

The Allianz Stadium will be without any European nights as Juventus were banned from the Conference League. After a 22/23 season to forget, the Bianconeri will be aiming for Europe’s top competition once again, the Champions League. With 2 wins and 1 draw in 3 games, things are currently looking up for the Turin-based side.

Juventus will need Dusan Vlahovic to continue his fiery run under the colors of Juve. Fans will also be hoping that Federico Chiesa will remain fit, as the Italian man has had bad luck with injuries during his time. The player was pivotal in Italy’s run to the Euros. Juventus fans will hope that he plays a huge role on the road to the Champions League.

The club will also be hoping that their defense can keep out the free-scoring frontlines of the Serie A. With only one goal conceded in three games, the defenders are doing their job well. Massimiliano Allegri‘s men have a lot to do after disappointing their fans with a poor season last year.
