Al-Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo was spotted disrespectfully tossing his medal into the crowd, following the club’s loss to Al-Hilal in the Riyadh Season Cup. The 39-year-old was furious after his side lost in the final, and threw the medal while heading back to the tunnel.
Al-Nassr lost 2-0 to their city rivals Al-Hilal in the final of the Riyadh Season Cup. The loss came as a great disappointment to the Nassr fans as well as to the club’s captain, Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star was furious throughout the match and made headlines for the wrong reasons. He was initially seen rubbing an Al-Hilal scarf indecently, following which he misbehaved with an on-field staff member during the guard of honor.
In another controversial moment, the ex-Real Madrid star was spotted throwing his silver medal into the stands, before heading towards the changing room.
Furthermore, he displayed visible frustration at having to watch the awards ceremony from a distance. Al-Hilal star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic won the Player of the Tournament award. Now, Ronaldo could face repercussions for his conduct during the game and could face heavy penalties.
This incident comes just a few weeks after the Portuguese had termed the Saudi league as a better alternative to French Ligue 1. However, Ronaldo’s recent actions do not coincide with his statements, claiming the Middle Eastern league’s superiority.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s offensive act with an Al-Hilal scarf may land him in legal trouble
The 39-year-old Portuguese star may have caused trouble for himself by rubbing an Al-Hilal scarf against his groin during Al-Nassr’s 2-0 loss. Cristiano Ronaldo could face legal consequences if the incident is thoroughly investigated by the Saudi football authorities.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner could face charges and could be banned or restrained from playing a few matches. As of now, Al-Hilal has not complained nor addressed the incident publicly. Ronaldo was frequently subjected to taunts by opposing fans chanting Lionel Messi‘s name.
As Ronaldo made his way towards the tunnel during halftime, fans hurled several Al-Hilal scarves and jerseys at him. Ronaldo grabbed one of them, rubbed it against his crotch, and then tossed it back into the crowd.
