Cristiano Ronaldo will not ‘suit’ Chelsea, feels former Blues defender William Gallas
Chelsea Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo has asked Manchester United to consider any suitable offers that arrive for him this summer, in the belief that he will be unable to fulfill his ambitions of claiming silverware and personal accolades at Old Trafford next season. At this stage, only Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have the will and finances to pull off a deal, and if reports are to be believed the former are readying an opening bid.
However, former Chelsea defender and rebel William Gallas believes Cristiano Ronaldo would not fit Thomas Tuchel’s ‘mobile front three’ playing style despite the goals that the Portuguese international brings to the table.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is a world-class player and everybody knows that he wants to play Champions League football. I don’t think he would suit Chelsea. Cristiano and Thomas Tuchel should have a good conversation because if Chelsea really wants to sign him then they will have to speak about everything,” Gallas told in a recent interview.
But he also claimed that Ronaldo’s arrival will elevate the performances of the current under-warming Chelsea attack. “If Ronaldo does sign for Chelsea, I’m sure the other players will learn a lot from him and I’m sure he’ll score goals because the players around him will give him plenty of chances.”
William Gallas claims Cristiano Ronaldo’s teammates were to be blamed for Manchester United’s poor last season showings
Even though Ronaldo received major criticism for Manchester United’s disastrous last season, William Gallas believes it was his teammates who let the team down on the pitch. “Ronaldo is 37 now and even though people know he still has the quality because last season he was Man United’s top goalscorer, fans were still complaining about him for some reason and I didn’t understand why because the problem was that the players around him didn’t lift their level of performance.”
“Cristiano is a top-class player and when you play with players like him, you need to raise your game and some of the players didn’t do that, maybe because of too much pressure or maybe because they just weren’t good enough.“
