Portugal and Iceland are both in the Group J of the EURO Qualifiers. Luxembourg, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Liechtenstein are the other teams in their group.

Portugal is leading Group J with nine points after starting in a perfect fashion. The Seleço das Quinas thrashed Liechtenstein 4-0 and Luxembourg 6-0 in the first two rounds. Then they easily defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina by a 3-0 scoreline.

With three points, Iceland is currently sitting in sixth place in Group J. They are having a 33% record winning record. The Vikings have had two defeats and one victory so far in the Qualifiers. And the nation would desperately look for the points in today’s match if they want to qualify for the tournament.

Iceland will most likely be without captain Aron Gunnarsson. He was injured during the warm-up for the Slovakia game. Gunnarsson is still unsure about the Portugal game. But he is not out of the running. There may be a late fitness test although a failure would be devastating for Hareide.

Roberto Martinez rested Renato Sanches and Toti Gomes. The manager is unlikely to recall them for the trip to Iceland. For the time being, the Spaniard’s approach appears to be faultless. There reportedly seems to be no need for modifications or alterations.

Portugal’s predicted starting lineup:

Diogo Costa; António Silva, Rúben Dias, Danilo Pereira; João Cancelo, Raphaël Guerreiro, João Palhinha, Bruno Fernandes; João Félix, Cristiano Ronaldo, Bernardo Silva.

Iceland’s predicted starting lineup:

Rúnarsson; Magnússon, Ingason, Pálsson, Sampsted; Fridriksson, Willumsson, Gudmúndsson; Thorsteinssson, Finnbogasson, Gudmundsson.
