Former FC Barcelona and PSG star Dani Alves was arrested on January 20 on allegations of sexually assaulting a woman in Barcelona. He has been kept behind bars since then. He had his bail plea denied earlier as well as he was considered a major flight risk.

Recently, he put forward his bail appeal to the Brazilian High Court considering him not being a flight risk. However, this appeal has been rejected by the judge as there is still a risk of him escaping the country. Alves’s reaction when he found out about the verdict was available through the Cuatro program of ‘En boca de todos.’

He said, “Only two people know what happened and above all what didn’t happen. I am telling the truth. I think everyone understands that I tried to save my marriage and that’s why I said what I said in the first place.” The former Barcelona and Brazil star has changed his version multiple times, from claiming that it never happened to it was consensual. As a result, his marriage with Joana Sanz has fallen apart.

That was the only motive and I have nothing to hide. There is talk of infinite versions and I have only testified twice before the judge. I have been in prison since 20 January and I have still not been tried,” added the former player.

It will be proven that I am not guilty and it was a consensual relationship. It would never cross my mind to impose a sexual act on anyone, as has been written,” Alves doubled down on the comments he made earlier.

He also insisted that he wanted to cooperate with the authorities, “I went to the police of my own free will from Mexico and I refused to go to Brazil, a country that would not have collaborated with Spain in my surrender. I did it to defend myself and prove my innocence”. However, the authorities have maintained that they detained the right-back when he was in Barcelona to attend his mother-in-law’s funeral.

FC Barcelona will look to offload young midfielder Pablo Torre this summer. This is after photos of his partying at a nightclub in Ibiza along with teammates Ferran Torres and Eric Garcia emerged. These photos were uploaded after the Barca Atletic reserve team lost to Real Madrid Castilla in an important match. He had featured for this team a few times this season.

Pablo Torre has never looked to solidify his spot in the starting 11 since signing last year for the club. The comparisons with Pedri have not helped him. Barcelona will look to sell him this summer alongside many other players. Barcelona manager Xavi has been trying to set up a highly disciplined team since his arrival. Thus, this is unlikely to be tolerated. FC Barcelona will look to try and strengthen their squad with more signings with their arch-rivals Real Madrid signing talented midfielder, Jude Bellingham.
