The defense of former Brazilian footballer Dani Alves has announced its intention to contradict the testimony of the victim. She denounced Alves for rape in the famous Sutton nightclub in Barcelona.
According to Alves’ lawyer, Cristobal Martell, the victim sought out the footballer, and there was a “sexual courtship” between the two. He says there were several occasions when they touched each other. The defense claims to have audiovisual material that contradicts the victim’s testimony.
The victim reported in late 2022 that Alves sexually abused her and assaulted her physically and verbally. This included insulting her vulgarly and throwing her handbag to the ground. According to the prosecution, the victim was at a VIP table in the nightclub when Alves attacked her. Alves’ defense denies these allegations and claims that the images show no signs of violence or restraint.
The victim’s lawyer, Juan Carlos Rodriguez, has assured that the complainant stands up and has described the defense’s attempt to discredit the victim as “insulting.” Rodriguez said that the victim is being subjected to “public scrutiny” and called for her privacy to be respected and for her re-victimization to be avoided.
The case has generated tremendous excitement in Spain and has been widely covered by the media. Dani Alves, a former FC Barcelona and PSG player, is without a team after his departure from Sao Paulo in 2021.

How is Dani Alves doing in prison?
Authorities have imprisoned the former Barcelona star for almost half a year now. Previously, it was said that Alves had started a business in prison (which was later shut down) and reportedly had a good relationship with his fellow prisoners. However, the cellmates have seen the player break down after his bail was denied earlier.
A former cellmate gave more details about Dani Alves in prison. “He is very thin and has become sad. He eats exactly the same sh*t they give us. As is. “There are rude people in the cafeteria who yell at him r*pist and h*mosexual. He doesn’t go out except to go to the gym to play against another group.” He added: “Otherwise, he stays in his cell or sits in the living room, where the television is, to watch it.”
