Former English forward, Darren Bent, on a TalkSport podcast with Andy Goldstein named six teams who are currently in a better position than Manchester United and could easily finish ahead of the Red Devils in the Premier League table this season.
The ex-Tottenham Hotspur striker, who played a lot in the English Premier League, has represented England from U-15s to the senior team. Darren Bent supports Arsenal and often talks about it in interviews and podcasts. He was recently on the TalkSport podcast with host Andy Goldstein.
Darren Bent named the following teams: Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Tottenham Hotspurs, to be better than Manchester United this season, and felt that these teams would finish above United in the 2023/24 Premier League table. He went on to point out several weaknesses present in the United squad this season, to the utter disbelief of the show’s host, Goldstein.
I can name six teams better than Man United this season…City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle, Aston Villa & Tottenham.
Darren Bent had previously highlighted that 2022/23 Champions Manchester City would face tough competition from all other sides in the Premier League this season, and predicting an early winner would be difficult until the end of the season. United currently stands 6th in the Premier League table, behind all the mentioned sides.
United’s chances of getting into the last 16 of the Champions League remain uncertain after a 3-3 draw against Galatasaray
Manchester United’s chances of advancing into the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League this season have turned slimmer after they failed to defeat Turkish champions Galatasaray in last night’s UCL encounter.
United stepped into the much-win game against Galatasaray with a lot of hopes, but all of those were left shattered after the team failed to defeat the Turkish side, as the match ended with a 3-3 scoreline. United took an early two-goal lead through Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes, but Hakim Ziyech pulled one back for the Turkish side before half-time.
Scott McTominay struck the back of the net after halftime as scores stood 3-1. Galatasaray then staged an amazing comeback through goals from Ziyech, who took advantage of an error made by Andre Onana, and Kerem Akturkoglu. The match ultimately ended in a draw.
Manchester United are placed at the bottom of their qualifying group and face stiff competition from Copenhagen and Galatasaray for the second spot. The Red Devils face German giants Bayern Munich next, and only a win can help them secure a Round of 16 positions.
