Barcelona was saved from 230 million euro debt by dictator Franco which is denied by Barcelona authorities.
Real Madrid’s video on their official Twitter page has given rise to new questions in soccer politics. The video alleging Dictator Francisco Franco saved Barcelona from bankruptcy is now a greater question to look into.
In 1962 Barcelona faced a heavy debt of 230 million pesetas. This debt was due to the inauguration of Barcelona’s present home ground Camp amount in 1957. This construction of Camp Nou was a serious objective back in 1940, and purchase of the plot put the club to debt of 230 million. Real Madrid claims Barcelona is saved from bankruptcy thrice by the dictator.
Blaugranas used Les Corts as a training ground for their B team. Former ruler President Enric Llaudet set the proposal to sell Les Corts which would finance the debt. This sale raised the money that the club needed to end their debt.
Now there are theories which speak Les Corts was initially classified as a green belt. Construction of any kind was not permissible. Francisco Franco made the sale of Les Corts possible for the Culers said the reports. This change in the use of the land was allegedly published in Decree 2735/1965. There are claims that it had the signature of Francisco Franco.
Did Francisco Franco receive medal from Barcelona?
Barcelona never had a good relationship with Francisco Franco. From the shooting down of President Josep Sunyol to the controversial signing of Alfredo Di Stéfano to Real Madrid, history shows a strained relationship of the Catalonian club with Generalissimo.
But the recent video posted by Los Blancos claims the dictator received medals thrice from the Catalans. The Catalonian government condemned the tweet and the allegation asking for Real Madrid’s formal apology.
The former Barcelona President Agustí Montal Galobart gifted the first medal to the dictator. In 1951, Barcelona president allegedly gifted the gold and diamond badges to the dictator after they secured their win in Copa Del Rey against Sociedad.
The dictator welcomed the Barcelona hierarchy in Palacio del Pardo allegedly in 1971. Agustí Montal the president allegedly again gifted a gold badge to the dictator. Blaugrana in their 75th club anniversary reportedly gifted a medal to the dictator. Now recently in 2019, the club said that it will cancel all the medals given to the dictator. What stays documented is the death of Josep Sunyol and the forceful defeat of Barcelona in the semifinal of the Kings Cup in Madrid.
