DR Congo fans in London wildly celebrated their national team’s qualification to the semi-final of the Africa Cup of Nations 2023. DRC made it through to the last four by defeating Guinea in the quarter-finals.
DR Congo came from behind to beat Guinea 3-1 and book a semi-final spot at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Goals from Chancel Mbemba, Yoane Wissa, and Arthur Masuaku propelled them to victory. They will face the winner of the other quarter-final match, between Mali and Ivory Coast, on Saturday. The win marked a major resurgence for DR Congo after they failed to even qualify for the previous edition.
Following the Leopards’ win in the last-eight, fans residing in London celebrated their home nation’s victory on the streets of the English capital. Further, the fans were seen stepping out of their cars, dancing, and singing out loud, in support of their team.
Meanwhile, one fan was spotted dancing on top of a car’s roof, as the others captured the moment on their cameras. This will be DR Congo’s first semi-final appearance since 2015. That year they finished third.
Moreover, DR Congo were put in Group F, alongside Morocco, Zambia, and Tanzania. Yet they finished second in the group stages. Surprisingly, they even secured a penalty shootout victory over seven-time champions Egypt in the round of 16. Now in the semis, no one must question their route to the last four!
Ivory Coast or Mali to meet DR Congo in the semi-finals
Ivory Coast will face off against Mali in the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, as both sides seek to move a step closer to winning the prestigious continental trophy. The winner of the match will face DR Congo, in the semi-finals.

Ivory Coast secured a spot in the quarter-finals by defeating reigning champions Senegal in the round of 16, while Mali advanced by defeating Burkina Faso. The Les Elephants, who emerged 3rd in a difficult group A, will be led by their star midfield trio of Ibrahim Sangare, Frank Kessie, and Seko Fofana.
Mali, on the other hand, will depend on their top scorer in this competition, Lassine Sinayoko, who has scored three goals so far. The match will occur at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake city of Ivory Coast.
