Dutch football star Quincy Promes has been prosecuted for ‘importing more than 1300 kilos of cocaine’. The Spartak Moscow forward is prosecuted for the import of more than 1300 kilos of cocaine with a value of £65 million.
According to the report, two batches of about 650 kilos and 713 kilos of cocaine were intercepted in the port of Antwerp at the end of January 2020. Promes has already been suspected of involvement in drug trafficking and participation in criminal organizations.
The pre-trial hearing of this case is scheduled to take place next Monday. As Promes is currently playing in the Russian league, the case can be handled by the court without his presence. But a lawyer has to be authorized by him if he does not go to the Netherlands.
On the prosecution, Ex Ajax star’s lawyer Robert Malevicz refused to comment. He said, “I will do that during the session next Monday”.
It’s not the first time the 31-year-old has landed himself in trouble. Promes was prosecuted for attempted murder and aggravated assault. In December 2020, Promes was arrested on suspicion of stabbing his cousin at a gathering back in July of the same year. He spent two days in jail before being released. But the police investigation continued on until May 2021.

Russian side Spartak Moscow is eyeing a swoop for Norwich City defender Dimitrios Giannoulis ahead of the summer transfer window. The club has already made a tentative inquiry to Giannoulis’ representatives about his availability.
Although a formal bid has yet to be submitted by Spartak for the defender. And while the Russian sides are currently banned from European competitions following the country’s invasion of Ukraine last year. But the club is still competing domestically and is allowed to sign players.
Giannoulis’ contract with Norwich is set to run until 2024. And any potential suitor will need to pay a reasonable fee in order to have a chance of securing his services.
