It’s not surprising given the enduring appeal of their underdog status, which has resulted from decades of under-spending in comparison to other world-leading clubs.
It was interesting to hear Dwayne Johnson reveal yesterday that he had switched allegiances from Macclesfield FC, the former “Pride of Cheshire,” to another Lancashire club. When the media asked him, “Do you support a football team?” he responded with the following,
It would be straightforward to assume he was referring to Macclesfield, given his previous support for the club, but when the interviewer asked, “Liverpool?” he replied, “yes.”
Today, Macclesfield supporters will undoubtedly be mourning the loss of the global icon’s support. In the late 1990s, The Rock rose to prominence as a WWE wrestler. He has since rebranded himself as one of Hollywood’s most successful actors, with films grossing more than $3.5 billion in North America and more than $10.5 billion worldwide.

End-to-end action ensued until Salah broke the tie in the 76th minute. With City players advancing for a free kick, Alisson caught the ball and quickly passed it to Salah. The Egyptian forward spun past Joao Cancelo and was clear on goal before burying his shot past Ederson.
In the 86th minute, Jurgen Klopp was shown a red card for angrily protesting the lack of a call for a foul he believed was committed against Salah. Both teams had chances in the dying minutes, but City couldn’t find an equalizer as Liverpool claimed a crucial victory that could finally kick-start their season. With their third win of the season, Liverpool move up to eighth in the table, while City fall four points behind league leaders Arsenal.
