Cristiano Ronaldo has lost his blue tick on Twitter. The blue tick is a verification mark used by the social networking company to confirm the status of a personality. The mark was usually only visible on famous personalities’ pages, but Twitter owner Elon Musk has also demanded a subscription to Twitter Blue, worth around eight pounds, to retain their verification.
Despite being one of the most popular athletes of all time, Ronaldo has lost his verification on the platform. The Portuguese has over 100 million followers on Twitter, and is the most followed sportsman on the site. The rule change in legacy Twitter has come after Elon Musk claimed that there were too many corrupt verified pages on the platform.
The Al-Nassr forward is not the only one to have lost their verification mark. Other famous personalities like Virat Kohli, Donald Trump and The Pope all lost their blue ticks. However, it should only be a matter of time before the verifications are reinstated on the pages of these personalities.

Cristiano Ronaldo will be given no punishment after seemingly grabbing his crotch following “Messi” chants. The Portuguese failed to conjure a match-winning performance for Al-Nassr in their recent defeat to rivals Al-Hilal.
The disciplinary committee has reportedly decided to refrain from dishing out a fine or suspension to the Portuguese footballer. The 2016 Euros winner was supported by his club in the wake of the incident. The Al-Nassr board had released a statement in that regard, explaining, “Ronaldo suffers from an injury. His challenge with Gustavo Cuellar, the Al-Hilal player, started with a blow in a very sensitive area. This is confirmed information.“
This is not the first time the Five-Time UCL winner has been targeted by chants of his arch-rival. The forward was also subject to “Messi” chants in previous games as well. The Portuguese will be hoping to bounce back from the defeat and perform to his usual best against Al-Wehdah. The Faris Najd will be hoping to secure silverware in the form of the King’s Cup of Champions, after falling even further behind in the title race.
