17 years old, while also being Brazil’s and Real Madrid’s future – fans are running out of superlatives to praise the Brazilian ‘boy wonder’ after he netted his first ever goal for the Brazilian national team against England in a friendly. Endrick‘s goal meant that he is now the youngest ever goal scorer for Brazil, claiming the record earlier set by Ronaldo Nazario himself in 1994.
While the 17-year-old made his debut for the Selecao much earlier, he chose the perfect occasion to get off the mark. The No.21 replaced Rodrygo in the 71st minute in a cagey encounter where neither side failed to take advantage till the late 80th minute. Freshly subbed on, the soon to be Real Madrid star found himself on the end of a golden chance.
Vinicius Jr., whose shot was saved by Jordan Pickford dropped to Endrick who had the easy job of tapping the ball into the empty net. Wembley was silenced as the 17-year-old grabbed all the headlines with fans going berserk on social media.
From ‘best youngster in the world’ chants to comparisons with rival clubs’ youngsters, football X had it all.
Fans react to Endrick’s first ever goal for Brazil
Endrick’s performance against England was only a teaser of what is to come. Fans were thrilled as the Real Madrid youngster, who is yet to officially make his debut for the club, shined in national team colors. A fan commented that his goal on Saturday already makes him better than FC Barcelona‘s Lamine Yamal.
Another claimed that he was all set to become one of the best in the sport in the future. However, rival fans were not convinced of their claims, as one pointed out that it was only a lucky tap-in and that it was unnecessary to get so hyped for it. Others said that Yamal is a starter for both Barcelona and Spain and that Endrick was nowhere close to that.
Thrilled fans said that he was the closest thing to a Pele regen that the Selecao will ever find. Some fans saw this as an opportunity to mock Barcelona’s Vitor Roque, calling him ‘Roqueass’. Endrick, who was picked up by the Los Blancos for a fee that amounts to €60 million, will fly to Madrid and join with the club as soon as he turns 18 in July 2024.
