English Premier League unveils six new names for ‘Hall of Fame’ including Sergio Aguero, Didier Drogba, Paul Scholes, and others

The English Premier League officials recently announced a total of six newcomers to the ‘Hall of Fame’ because of their contributions to the Premier League over last few the years.

Six entries have been recorded including the likes of Sergio Aguero of Manchester City, Didier Drogba of Chelsea, Vincent Kompany of City, Peter Schmeichel and Paul Scholes of Manchester United, and Ian Wright of Arsenal. The League has officially announced their names to be included in the Premier League’s Hall of Fame.  

Premier League’s Hall of Fame celebrates and honors the greatest players who have left their legacies in the premier league. It was established in 2021 to recognize these geniuses of football who have left their impressions on clubs like Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, and others.

There are more players who have already registered their names in the Hall of Fame, such as Thierry Henry and Alan Shearer, the first-ever footballers to receive this recognition. They were followed by  Eric Cantona, Roy Keane, Frank Lampard, Dennis Bergkamp, Steven Gerrard, David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, and Patrick Vieira. 

English Premier League: Facts about the newly-added ‘Hall of Famers’

The ex-Manchester United goalkeeper, Peter Schmeichel, joined United in 1991 under Sir Alex Ferguson and served for eight years before leaving the club in 1999. He has won five premier league titles, three FA Cups, one league cup, and the UEFA champions league.

Paul Scholes, another Manchester United legend, scored 107 goals in 499 appearances for the Red Devils. After being nominated for the Hall of Fame, he stated that it has a very special moment to have been given this respect with other legends for this game of football.

Ian Wright is an ex-Arsenal striker and he feels very ‘humble’ as he’s been awarded the Hall of Fame award. He has featured for Arsenal and scored 185 career goals and won two FA Cups and a league title. Wright had been Arsenal’s top scorer six times in a row and is the club’s all-time highest goal scorer. 

Didier Drogba is a former Chelsea striker with 104 goals in 254 appearances with two golden boots and four league titles for Chelsea. He is the second Chelsea player to be named to the Hall of Fame after Frank Lampard and the first African player to achieve the feat.

Two Manchester City stars have also been included namely- Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany. Aguero has been a prolific striker for the team with 184 goals in 275 matches. Kompany and Aguero have been a part of Manchester City’s league triumph in 2012 after 44 years.
