As reports from various media outlets rolled in, renowned UK-based soft drinks brand Lucozade has pulled out of sponsoring the 2022 FIFA World Cup going to happen in Qatar. The company announced that its bottles will not be seen endorsing the tournament just a few hours earlier.

The reason why the English soft drinks brand had to make this move was because of the strict Gulf state laws and their complex requirements. The FIFA World Cup will not be endorsed by the English brand as the deal fell off just two days before the first match.

Although Lucozade produces non-alcoholic beverages, Qatar has still been adamant about its policies and somehow forced the company to withdraw as a sponsor from the prestigious tournament.

The England national team and Lucozade have been in partnership for a long time and the players have often seen consuming the energy drink during their training sessions.

The company announced today “Lucozade is a proud long-term sponsor of the England team but we are not an official FIFA World Cup partner. We continue to support all England teams, who celebrate diversity, equity, and inclusion.”

Harry Kane and Co. will be provided with the soft drinks but would not come with any logos or branding. The outlet showed a lot of optimism about their relationship with England’s national team but faced nothing but disappointment just two days before the tournament began.
