Erik ten Hag forced Ralf Rangnick out of Manchester United after not agreeing to meet him personally: Reports
Many Manchester United fans were taken aback by Ralf Rangnick’s abrupt departure as after his interim stint at the club ended, the German was promised a two-year consulting role.
Rangnick’s success in resurrecting the Red Bull project piqued the interest of many United fans. However, shortly after the appointment of Erik ten Hag as manager, the club announced that Rangnick would be leaving to focus on his job as coach of the Austrian national team.
According to ESPN, Rangnick agreed to cut ties with United in part due to Ten Hag’s unwillingness to work with the German in his proposed consultancy role. According to reports, United terminated their contract with Rangnick after consulting with Ten Hag.
Rangnick is said to have been dissatisfied with the lack of a formal handover with the new manager. According to sources, Rangnick expected to meet Ten Hag in person, but the Dutchman instead chose a phone call.
According to the report, United executives became ‘increasingly exasperated’ with Rangnick’s media comments in the final weeks of the season, particularly his claim that the club needed to sign ten new players this summer. According to sources, United asked Rangnick to sign a non-disclosure agreement as part of his departure from the club.
Manchester United wished Ralf Rangnick every success in his future endeavours
Manchester United confirmed Rangnick’s departure in a statement last month, which read, “We would like to thank Ralf Rangnick for his efforts as interim manager over the past six months. By mutual agreement, Ralf will now focus solely on his new role as manager of the Austria national team and will not therefore be taking up a consultancy role at Old Trafford.
“We would like to wish Ralf the best of luck in this next chapter of his career.” the official statement concluded. Ten Hag is described as a driven man who sticks to his vision and principles. It could have been a clash of ideas between two brilliant football minds. United must now ensure that they support the new manager and give him time to put his vision for the club into action.
