Jadon Sancho was exiled from Manchester United’s first team in September after a pretty public falling out. After Erik Ten Hag claimed Sancho wasn’t selected because he didn’t train well, the winger went on Twitter [X] to say he was training well. He further asked fans to not believe anything they heard and claimed he was being made into a scapegoat. Since then he was exiled but was allowed back if he apologized.

Four months on, Sancho hasn’t apologized and has moved away to Borussia Dortmund. Meanwhile, United has been in poor form, being 9th in the league and out of all European tournaments. Ahead of United’s first fixture since Sancho’s departure, Ten Hag was once again asked about how the winger could return to the first team, which didn’t make the manager too happy.

He once again reminded the interviewer that Jadon Sancho could only return to the main team if he apologized. He further added that his time at United has been below par and his discipline has been an issue.

Yes, we have said that before. But I don’t want every time to return to that point. Jadon knows what he should do, we have made that clear. Let’s stop the discussion

In the same video, he claimed Sancho’s performances left something to be desired, which was another factor in him getting dropped and out of the squad. During his exile, he wasn’t allowed to train with the senior squad and wasn’t allowed to use facilities like the gym and cafeteria. He was made to train on his own and was also removed from the team’s WhatsApp group.

What’s next for Sancho after the dream return to ‘home’?

Jadon Sancho joined Borussia Dortmund in 2017 after spending two years at the Manchester City academy. He made his first team debut in his first season and showed he was a force to be reckoned with. In 137 appearances in four seasons, he scored 38 times and assisted 51 times. He formed an incredible partnership with Erling Haaland as well, with the two winning the DFB Pokal in 2021.

After leaving in 2021 for Manchester United, he couldn’t provide the same performances for the Red Devils. He managed only five goals and three goals in his first season, and the next season the poor performances didn’t stop. He only managed one extra goal to his previous year’s tally. After being exiled, he was training on his own and finally got a move to Borussia Dortmund.

Although it is a 6-month loan, Sancho has the opportunity to show the world that Erik Ten Hag was wrong to exile him. The loan doesn’t have any obligations to buy for Dortmund, but the club and its fans are happy with his arrival. On his first appearance, he assisted in a 3-0 win over Darmstadt. His contract with United ends in 2026, but he will be looking for a move away soon.
