Erik ten Hag to receive £3 million bonus if manages to seal a Champions League spot for Manchester United next season: Reports

Manchester United

Manchester United finished last season with the worst points total in the Premier League era. As a result, they also failed to qualify for Europe’s most prestigious competition, the Champions League. Despite having a 5-time winner, Cristiano Ronaldo is in their ranks.

FOr most clubs in Europe, Champions League is not just a tournament that they wish to participate in and win. The competition also brings a huge amount of cash inflow for the clubs. Hence, missing out on the competition for a club like Manchester United can be devastating.

As per  The Sun, the club could receive as much as £90 million in cash inflow if they play in the Champions League. This includes the £25 million in sponsorship with Adidas, gate recipes, TV Rights and more. Hence, finishing in the top 4 is crucial for the club.

Erik ten Hag could pocket £3 million in bonus if Manchester United finish top 4 next season

Erik ten Hag’s current contract pays him £9 million a season. That is half of what Pep Guardiola ears at the other end of Manchester. However, the Dutchman could receive £3 million in bonus should Manchester United secure Champions League football next season.

The club can do it in two ways. Either they finish top 4 next season or they win the Europa League next season. Manchester United and Ten Hag will both hope that both situations come true for the club who are in desperate need of silverware as well.
