“What’s this now” — Fans react as Premier League USA Instagram handle reveals SURPRISING statistic about Chiefs star Travis Kelce post-‘Haaland’ celebration

Erling Haaland‘s influence on the global stage was never in doubt. However, moments after the 2024 Super Bowl came to a close, the Premier League USA’s Instagram handle posted a surprising yet strange statistic. In the post, the league claimed that Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce hadn’t lost a Super Bowl ever since he did the Erling Haaland celebration.

The Kansas City Chiefs lifted back-to-back titles with the win on Sunday night. Patrick Mahomes was named the MVP as the Chiefs edged the San Francisco 49ers 25-22. Manchester City dropped a custom NFL-themed post ahead of the final which featured the likes of Pep Guardiola, Erling Haaland, and Jeremy Doku in Rugby gear.

Haaland’s celebration, which features the #9 getting down on one knee, and pointing to the camera, was imitated by the Chiefs tight-end back in 2022. While some fans questioned the veracity of the Premier League’s claim, others dismissed it as something ‘silly’. A fan commented that pointing one’s finger in a particular direction couldn’t possibly mean anything in sporting terms.

Another said that it was a poor effort by the league to ‘farm’ likes and interactions. Haaland has inspired other celebrations in the NFL l, with players mimicking his ‘meditation’ pose in the past as well. The Man City star has certainly begun his ascent to that of a global icon, with Kelce coming into the mix only amplifying his popularity.

Kelce X Haaland : Where it all started

Travis Kelce doing Erling Haaland’s celebration after a touchdown last year made both NFL and Premier League fans take notice. The three-time Super Bowl champion chose to give a shoutout to the Premier League star back in September of last year. The celebration, which Haaland has been doing since his days at Dortmund, found its way to the NFL.

While many fans debated on the origins of such a celebration, Kelce put an end to the same with a viral tweet. The Chiefs star credited Haaland for his celebration and asked the Norwegian how well he and his former teammate JuJu Smith-Schuster did.

Even though Haaland’s ‘pointing’ celebration has some of the greatest admirers, it is far from being his most iconic. The player’s celebration in which he poses like a man in meditation was the most ‘copied’, ranging from a Thai shuttler to New York Jets’ Allen Lazard in an NFL game.
