Manchester City were held to a frustrating 3-3 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. The side led by Ange Postecoglou would have felt ‘let off the hook’ thanks to a ‘controversial’ decision by match referee Simon Hooper. Erling Haaland did not shy away from expressing his anger in a ‘three-word’ rant on social media. In the dying minutes of the game, the Cityzens had a clear-cut scoring opportunity as Haaland set up Jack Grealish for an easy finish.

The incident occurred in the 93rd minute of the game, as Erling Haaland played a spectacular through pass for teammate Jack Grealish. However, much to the anger and dismay of Manchester City players and fans, referee Simon Hooper quickly called the whistle, canceling a potential game-winner.

What ‘baffled’ the City camp was that Hooper initially played advantage for the Cityzens. Emerson Royal fouled Haaland but the Norwegian managed to play his pass to Grealish.

The Norwegian took a tumble before getting to his feet and playing the pass. Frustratingly enough for them, the whistle for the foul was called only after Grealish was in clear sight of the goal, leading to Haaland’s reaction on social media. “Wtf” was the player’s reply to a post showing the same.

Manchester City held 3-3 against Spurs in electric clash

Manchester City dropped points against Tottenham Hotspur for the 3rd time in their last 4 games. The Cityzens saw themselves go behind thanks to a stunning Heung-min Son goal in the 6th minute. However, the striker somehow managed to tumble the ball into his own net 3 minutes later, while defending a free-kick. Jeremy Doku’s shot ricocheted off the crossbar before Phil Foden passed the ball into the net from a superb City team goal.

Julian Alvarez hit the post at the end of the first half before Giovani Lo Celso pulled Spurs back on terms. His shot eluded Ederson’s grasp before hitting the post and going into the net. Pep Guardiola thought his side had won it when Erling Haaland set up Jack Grealish for an easy finish. City were 3-2 up with 9 minutes on the clock when Dejan Kulusevski pulled off a sensational header.

The Swede met Brennan Johnson’s cross with a sublime leaping header to beat his marker Nathan Aké. His header which was firmly directed to the far right of Ederson’s goal tied things up at 3-3. However, the game did not end without controversy as a foul on Erling Haaland was called at the most unfortunate moment for the Cityzens. Grealish was through on goal when the referee called back the foul. Following the game, Manchester City sit 3rd while Tottenham Hotspur are 5th.
