He stated  “I’ll pick Haaland. Yeah, I think Haaland has been looked like a sensation for the last sort of 3 or 4 years. Even before he went to Dortmund, he played really well, I think,as a sub.I think he was playing for Salzburg, he come on as sub in the Champions League and scored goals. So you knew this kid was going to be a star. Almost feels like a Nunez has crept up on us as a little bit. May be not sort of, you know the history that Haaland’s got, even though they’re both at a similar age.But you know, he was excellent last season for Benfica, brilliant against Liverpool in the Champions League. But there is no doubt, but I think Haaland’s has got more pedigree and is the one most people are more excited to see.”

When the reporter asked him is he worried about Haaland injury record, he jokingly replied -“I am not worried about it, no. Long may it continue.”

A new rivalry in the Premier league

Nunez and Haaland

Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez, two of the most highly regarded young players in the world of football, have the potential to engage in an epic duel throughout the 2022–23 season.

Nunez shown his prowess as a striker in both the Champions League and Portugal’s premier division last year. In 28 league games in 2021–22, he scored 26 goals while also finding the back of the net six times in Europe.

Haaland, in contrast, has already made a name for himself as one of the world’s top talents. Numerous elite European clubs, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich, were interested in recruiting the 21-year-old, but he chose to sign a five-year contract with Etihad Stadium instead. He made his Champions League debut in 2019 with Red Bull Salzburg, and after scoring 85 goals in 88 games for Dortmund, many believe he is the ideal striker to lead City.
