“Erling Haaland is not going to elevate Manchester City to a different level”- Jamie Carragher

According to Jamie Carragher, Manchester City-new signing Erling Haaland won’t make much difference to Guardiola’s side as the team has its consistency. Carragher also claimed that Guardiola’s side is good enough to get a minimum of 90 points in the Premier League and their consistency is undoubtful.

Haaland can score goals and be the main man for them but their domination and winning run won’t be much affected to a long extent. Moreover, the Liverpool legend Haaland might make an impact for his new side in European competitions after their shocking exit from the UCL semi-final stage this season.

“It makes Man City stronger, of course, it does. But I look at it a different way. There are so many points you can win in a season. Haaland is not going to elevate City to a different level, they are already at that level of getting 96 to 100 points a season”, said Carragher after Haaland’s arrival on the English side.

“There is not a huge jump for City to make – they are already at the highest level. Consistency-wise, over the last three or four years, they have probably been the best in Europe. It’s just to make a small difference in the biggest of games, such as those against Real Madrid”, he added.

Manchester City signed the Norweigian striker from Dortmund for an amount of £63 million for five years and will be the highest-paid footballer alongside De Bruyne. Guardiola’s side needed a prolific centre forward as a substitute for Gabriel Jesus and they had missed out on Harry Kane but successfully signed Erling Haaland. The ex-Dortmund striker will be paid £400,000 per week with bonuses as he will be assigned the role of a false no. 9 which Guardiola is using in his system for some time now.

Manchester City is set to lift the Premier League 2021-22 title if they win their remaining games

Manchester City has three matches remaining in the league stage and they have a one-match advantage as Liverpool equalled the points last night. Guardiola’s men have a midweek fixture against Wolves and will look to get the lead back if they win. The neck-to-neck battle will run till the last game and the PL Champions might be decided on the final night of the campaign.

Even if it goes to goal differential, Manchester City is ahead of Liverpool and will like to carry forward their campaign with the same momentum. If they win the Premier League title this year, it will be their fourth league title in the last five years.
