Arabic commentators are the embodiment of ‘fun’ and ‘vibes’ when it comes to football. Their hilarious comments, analogies, and ‘poetic’ sentences are enrapting, to say the least. A similar incident occurred during Everton vs Fulham in the EFL Cup on Wednesday. A video of Amadou Onana‘s missed penalty has gone viral on social media, but not for what one thinks it would be.

Everton crashed out against Fulham in the EFL Cup after a tense penalty shootout. The game ended 1-1 thanks to an own-goal from Michael Keane and a late equalizer from Beto. However, penalties followed and Fulham triumphed 6-7, progressing to the semi-finals of the competition. Amadou Onana‘s penalty was saved, and the video of the same has gone viral.

Netizens can’t stop laughing at the Arabic commentator’s way of approaching the same. He kept ‘singing’ ‘O na na na’ to the beat of a popular TikTok song.

He upped the tempo as Onana edged closer to the spot, but only to disappoint fans with his kick. His casual run-up and weakly placed shot to the keeper’s left was easily picked up by former Arsenal keeper Bernd Leno.

Everton crash out of EFL Cup as Fulham secure historic win

Everton began their quarter-final game against Fulham on the front foot. The Blues threatened to take the lead through Jarrad Branthwaite early on but saw their attempts saved by Bernd Leno. Fulham then took Everton by surprise, when a cross from Willian took a wicked deflection to fool Jordan Pickford. The visitors then tried their best to hang on to their one-goal lead until Everton broke their defense in the last 10 minutes of the game.

Everton substitute Beto backed up Sean Dyche‘s choice. He got on the end of a loose ball in the Fulham penalty area and headed home the equalizer. However, penalties were the undoing of this Everton side as both Amadou Onana and Idrissa Gueye let slip chances to win the game from the spot. Onana saw his penalty saved by Leno while Gueye’s penalty agonizingly hit the woodwork.

Despite a tough loss at Goodison Park, Everton boss Sean Dyche backed up his players. He said that Onana and Gueye will bounce back from their misses.

If you're brave enough to take one, you have to brave enough to face the consequences if it doesn't go in.
Sean Dyche said in a post-match interview

Everton are currently 16th in the Premier League after receiving a 10-point deduction earlier this month. They face Tottenham on the road in their next match.
