Former Premier League striker Carlos Tevez recently made concerning statements to the Press. The 39-year-old is currently employed as the manager of Club Atletico Independiente. The Argentine is known for his time in the Premier League. He featured for both Manchester City and Manchester United. He also had spells at Juventus and Boca Juniors.
Recently, the Argentine expressed his concern about the education of players. In top-flight Football, it is expected that the players have some form of basic education and knowledge. However, according to Tevez, that was not the case. Tevez labeled the situation as ‘poverty’. He said that a player approached him, saying that he didn’t know how to add or subtract.
In a class act, Tevez said that his club is arranging a project. “A teacher so that they can spend 2 hours studying after training,” said Tevez. “He must know how to defend himself, he must know how to read what he is signing.” The player’s comments have received much praise on social media. Fans are in support of the decision and are calling for more coaches to do the same.
Premier League claims ‘steps taken’ to avoid future VAR errors
The Premier League Refereeing has been called into question, several times in the past. Recently, however, Luis Diaz’s wrongly disallowed goal led to much controversy. Following the incident, PGMOL admitted their mistake and released the original audio of the decision being made. VAR referee Darren England did not overturn the wrong offside call.

However, Howard Webb, Referees’ Chief, has made a statement. In it, he claims that ‘steps’ have been taken to ensure no such errors happen again. New VAR communication guidelines have been implemented as well. “We’re disappointed for our reputation,” added Webb. He ensured that they have then put much effort into rectifying their errors so that this doesn’t happen again.
Webb also hinted that the IFAB may make minute changes in the VAR rules. However, he added that IFAB was about to conduct a full review of the laws of the game before the incident. He reassured that all the officials were instructed to go through such calls with due diligence in the future.
