Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho is renowned for never holding back when it comes to speaking his mind, and the current Roma manager has once again criticized major European clubs for their Champions League failures. A few major clubs are in risk of being demoted to the Europa League, but AS Roma is still vying for a spot in the Round of 32 of the UEFA Europa League (UEL).

Jose Mourinho, the head coach of Roma, ridiculed teams that made it back to the Europa League’s final rounds by referring to them as “the failed sharks of the Champions League.”

However, because of the draw, Betis was certain to go to the next round. When Mourinho was asked if Betis was the favorite to win the Europa League, he impliedly provoked Barcelona and Juventus.

“I see them [Betis] as candidates, but the failed sharks of the Champions League will arrive, and they will come in hard,” As a result of finishing third in their Champions League groups, teams that drop into the Europa League, Mourinho remarked.

“They shouldn’t come but it’s the reality. It’s going to be fun. The failures of the Champions League.”

Barcelona will need to win all of their remaining games while hoping for a positive outcome for Plzen. The likelihood of Barcelona making it to the round of 16 will be eliminated if Plzen loses to Inter Milan in San Siro.

Barca will compete in the Europa League for the second straight year if they can maintain their third-place finish. Juventus must also win each of their games in order to advance to the next round, although they rely on the outcomes.

Italian powerhouse PSG would need to hold off either Benfica or Israeli club Maccabi Haifa in order for them to have a chance at the round of 16. The odds of an upset are quite limited because Haifa has not had the finest Champions League start.
