How Venezuela scraped an essential point against favorites Brazil
In an action-packed 2026 World Cup qualifier, Brazil‘s 15-match home win streak was unexpectedly halted as they settled for a 1-1 draw with Venezuela. The Al-Hilal forward, Neymar, was in fine form and played a pivotal role in Brazil’s performance. He assisted in one of their goals and exhibited his usual attacking flair. Brazil had several chances to win the match as Vinicius Jr.’s goal was also ruled offside. This loss marked an end to Brazil’s win streak on home soil.
However, the match unexpectedly turned when Venezuela’s Eduard Bello scored a stunning overhead bicycle kick. This was in the final minutes of standard time, leaving Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson with no chance of stopping it. Brazil dominated most of the game, with Gabriel delivering a thumping header off Neymar’s corner kick to give his side the lead.
The Selecao appeared poised to secure all three points, but their failure to capitalize on several opportunities came back to haunt them as Bello’s goal leveled the score. Despite interim manager Fernando Diniz fielding a solid lineup, Brazil’s overreliance on Neymar and inability to seal the match ultimately cost them the win. The draw marked a frustrating outcome for Brazil, who will look to bounce back in their next CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers match against Uruguay.
