What’s in a name? People usually say that. Well, maybe Adolf Hutter is the person to answer your question. Adolf ‘Adi’ Hutter is a football manager whose claim to fame is an unremarkable similarity to one of the biggest tyrants the world has seen, Adolf Hitler.

Adolf Hutter is in the news as he has been appointed as the newest manager of Ligue 1 side A.S Monaco. The manager comes off an uninspired spell at Borussia Monchengladbach. Hutter had also coached Austrian side RB Salzburg and Swiss club Young Boys. Fans around the world were quick to compare his name to the infamous Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.

Adolf did admit that he likes to be called by his nickname, Adi. He narrated the story of him getting the name Adolf. “When I was born, my parents had no intention of calling me Adolf, My father’s brother died at the age of 27 in an avalanche of stones. My grandmother insisted on having another Adolf in the family,” Hutter revealed.

Certainly, I would have preferred a different first name. From day one, my mother simply called me ‘Adi,’ and practically everyone calls me ‘Adi’,” said Hutter admitting he wishes for a better name.” The 53-year-old has his work cut out for him as he aims to get Monaco back into European places after they missed out on it by finishing sixth in the Ligue 1 last year.
