Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Leicester City’s head groundsman, John Ledwidge. City made this change to ensure the Etihad Stadium’s pitch stays top-notch, as Ledwidge, who spent almost ten years with Leicester and is famous for his detailed pitch designs, is now part of their team.

The Sky Blues are looking to rebuild this summer, on and off the pitch. They have lost out on club captain Ilkay Gundogan as he headed to Barcelona. Off the pitch, they have lost their assistant manager Enzo Maresca to Leicester City.

Manchester City are looking to make strong replacements for the departing members. They are closing in on signing Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig. As for off-the-pitch standards, the appointment of Ledwidge serves as an important signal of the excellence they are aiming for. The Etihad-owned club is trying to maintain a gold standard in the way they function.

Ledwidge used to take care of the King Power Stadium, where he created beautiful patterns like stars, poppies, and stripes on the 105 by 68-meter pitch. Now, he will be working at the Etihad Stadium. But, unfortunately, for him, he can’t showcase his full talent because Premier League banned designed pitches in the 2017/18 season.

The recent treble winners, however, were targeted by a lot of jokes and banters. Mainly over the fact that City will be having an amazing pitch owing to Ledwidge, but won’t be able to fill their stadium to full capacity.
