Leroy Sane‘s lip looked to be swollen before Bayern Munich’s tie against Hoffenheim. The German was involved in an altercation with teammate Sadio Mane after the club’s Champions League quarterfinal tie against Manchester City.

Sane was allegedly punched in the face by the Senegalese after the two were seen arguing post-match on the pitch. Reports revealed that the German called Mane “black s**t” which prompted the latter to throw hands at his teammate. Teammates and management intervened and sent Sane out of the dressing room to put the situation under control.

This led to calls for Mane to be sacked and have his contract terminated. However, Sane intervened and tried to not make a fuss about the incident. Mane was let go with a one-match ban, the one against Hoffenheim, and a hefty fine.

Fans react to Leroy Sane’s swollen lip

The incident between Leroy Sane and Sadio Mane occurred after Manchester City handed a 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich at the Etihad Stadium. Goals from Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland meant the Mancunian giants had a comfortable lead going into the second leg.

After a pretty even first 40 minutes, Rodri opened the scoring for City with a weak foot rocket from 30 yards to lead going into the break. Bernardo Silva headed the second goal in for City after Haaland floated in a delicious delivery from the edge of the box. Haaland later put the game to bed with a simple finish. It was a majestic performance from almost every City player as they chase their first Champions League title.

Bayern will go into the second leg hoping for a miracle at the Allianz Arena. Manchester City, however, will be fairly comfortable yet cautious in their approach, hoping to secure the semifinal spot.
